WordPress 6.3 Release
HEADS-UP! WordPress 6.3 will be released to the public on August 8th!
If your website runs on WordPress – as does 43% of the entire internet – August 8 will see WordPress 6.3 released to the public. The update brings significant changes and website owners should be vigilant that sites continue working as expected.
Unlike when you manually update your theme in the admin, this major update will have elements that will be “forced”; meaning you have no control over when they will occur and no way to roll back to previous versions.
Although these updates do go through significant testing phases before release, we’ve never seen one that hasn’t created at least a few small headaches for webmasters.
If your website is critical to your business, get in touch ASAP and we can create a plan to ensure all steps are taken to minimise any impact. For those with less mission-critical needs, here are a few tips:
- Make a note in your diary for each day August 8-15 minimum.
- Do test enquiries from your contact forms to ensure they are being generated and received.
- Check key page layouts on desktop, mobile and tablet to ensure they haven’t changed.
- If you have an eCommerce site – or one that relies on any kind of workflow like eLearning - do test purchases a couple of times a day.
- If you spot any dry spells in leads or sales, first point to check would be whether the updates have been forced on your site.
